The 8th ASEAN Para Games, which Singapore was hosting for the first time, take place from 3 to 9 December 2015. Marina Bay Sands was the Official Games Village for the 8th ASEAN Para Games. It provided about 1,500 rooms to host officials and athletes during the Games, and also two conference halls and meeting rooms, which were used for athletes’ social activities and fringe activities to create awareness on para-sports.

The management at Marina Bay Sands identified that there was a need in the Games Village to provide adequate evacuation products for those that should need them in the event of an emergency. Emergency evacuation chairs, also known as disabled evacuation chair, stairway evacuation chair, fire evacuation chairs, evacuation chair or evac chairs, allow wheel chair users or less able bodied people to be evacuated quickly and safely down stairs. Evac+Chair has been specified as part of the MBS’s strategy in providing assistance to evacuate mobility impaired athletes and visitors down the multi-storey Games Village to a place of safety in an emergency evacuation.

The Evac+Chair is wall mounted and folds away discreetly making it the perfect solution to ensure all large scale buildings is compliant with the latest health & safety and fire safety regulations. In the event of an emergency such as an earthquake or a fire, lifts should not be used in multi-storey buildings, therefore the mobility impaired, people with a disability or who are injured may become trapped. Our evacuation chair is the perfect solution; it is a light weight and easy to use device which glides effortlessly down stairways without the need of great physical strength or lifting to assist with the quick and safe removal of people who are mobility impaired in the event of an emergency evacuation.
